Wavegrinder 5.5

The ULTIMATE high performance fin - now available in Australia!

In the above video we are showing and talking about the 9.25" longboard fin, but the principles talked about are the same.

Over 100 people in Australia are currently surfing using the Wavegrinder 9.25 in their longboards. Great results have been reported and sales for this fin are strong as more people spread the word about it. Increased speed, more drive, quicker turns, and easier wave catching have been reported by various users.

The Wavegrinder 5.5 has been ridden by a handful of people in Australia. I have personally used them in my Reverse Malbiu, a 9' shortboard, and my quad fin fish, both with great success. One of the Lalor kids from Apollo Bay is using them in his Thruster and likes them "cause they are faster", to quote him. We also have an accomplished mal rider, Dave Edwards from Anglesea using one 5.5 as his centre fin in a longboard.

Answers to questions by our main test pilot, Brendan Leo from NSW -
What do you think about take off?
It feels like you have no fins initially as the bite in a lot later than regular fins. They paddle quicker so you can get onto the wave sooner with more speed. They accelerate really quickly and give increased drive of the bottom and you can feel the board continuing to accelerate as you climb the face of the wave.
What about release?
The release was just awesome the board turns effortlessly and is super fast throughout the turn. They hold the speed through the turn meaning the turn can be completed quickly.
About hold on the wave face?
Again excellent hold on the wave face, plenty enough drive
Are you running these fins with toe-in, and if so how much?
I don't know the exact angle what ever the standard FCS setup is.
Have you tried these in a board without toe in (we suggest zero toe-in)?
No not yet as all my boards with FCS systems in them have the fins with toe-in.

The fins surfed unreal super fast with heaps of drive and lots of control. It made surfing well easier.

A day later...When I surfed this morning as it was still 6 foot on the sets I put my carbon fibre Sunny garcia fins into the same board I rode yesterday and I noticed their slowness in comparision to the wavegrinders.
It was apparent when paddling generally but particularly when paddling at maximum speed just prior to standing up on a wave.
They were also very sluggish when surfing and felt very dead as opposed to the lively feel of the Grinders.
I also believe that grinders will be what everybody will be riding in the future.

NOTE: Not all users report benefits. Some people simply won't notice it, some boards will perform differently, and fin position will also affect performance. We suggest zero toe-in on side fins in a thruster setup, but the above user reported success on a typical FCS setup, although it varied from one board to another for him.
